Driver Policy

Luxury Chauffeur and Tours is committed to providing safe, reliable, professional and respectful transport services. All drivers providing services through our business must comply with this policy and all applicable Australian and state or territory laws.

1. Driver eligibility

Drivers must:

  • Hold a current and appropriate Australian driver licence.
  • Maintain all required driver, chauffeur or passenger-transport accreditations.
  • Provide accurate licence, identity, insurance and vehicle documents when requested.
  • Immediately notify management of any licence suspension, cancellation, medical restriction, criminal charge or other matter affecting their ability to drive legally or safely.

2. Safety and legal compliance

Drivers must obey road rules, speed limits, parking restrictions and passenger-transport requirements. Seat belts must be used by the driver and all passengers whenever required.

A driver must never operate a vehicle while affected by fatigue, alcohol, illegal drugs, medication or any condition that could impair safe driving. Drivers may refuse or discontinue a journey when proceeding would be unsafe or unlawful.

3. Mobile phones and distractions

Drivers must not use a handheld mobile phone while driving. Navigation and communication devices may only be used in a lawful, securely mounted and safe manner. Drivers must avoid eating, reading, messaging or any other activity that causes distraction.

4. Vehicle standards

Before commencing work, drivers must ensure their vehicle is:

  • Registered, insured and legally permitted to provide the relevant service.
  • Roadworthy, clean and presentable.
  • Free from smoke and offensive odours.
  • Equipped with functioning seat belts and required safety equipment.
  • Suitable for the number of passengers and amount of luggage booked.

Any defect that may affect safety must be reported immediately, and the vehicle must not be used until it is safe and lawful to operate.

5. Professional conduct

Drivers must:

  • Be punctual, appropriately dressed and courteous.
  • Treat passengers, staff and members of the public with dignity and respect.
  • Provide service without unlawful discrimination or harassment.
  • Respect passenger privacy and avoid unnecessary personal questions.
  • Refrain from smoking, vaping, offensive language, aggressive behaviour or inappropriate conversation.
  • Not request unauthorised payments or promote unrelated services to passengers.

Harassment, intimidation, violence, sexual misconduct and discrimination are strictly prohibited.

6. Passenger service

Drivers should confirm the passenger’s name and destination before departure and follow the confirmed booking details. Reasonable assistance should be provided with doors and luggage where safe and appropriate.

Drivers must accommodate assistance animals and reasonable accessibility needs in accordance with applicable law. Children must travel using legally required restraints supplied or arranged for the booking.

7. Fatigue management

Drivers are responsible for being fit and sufficiently rested before accepting or commencing a journey. They must take appropriate breaks and comply with any applicable work-and-rest requirements. No driver will be expected to continue a journey when they reasonably believe fatigue makes driving unsafe.

8. Privacy and confidentiality

Passenger names, telephone numbers, addresses, travel plans, photographs and conversations must be kept confidential. Information obtained through a booking may only be used to provide the requested service and must not be shared, copied, published or used for personal purposes.

9. Accidents and incidents

Accidents, injuries, vehicle damage, passenger complaints, lost property, safety concerns and interactions with police or transport authorities must be reported to management as soon as safely possible.

Drivers must:

  • Stop and provide assistance where legally required.
  • Contact emergency services when necessary.
  • Exchange legally required information.
  • Preserve relevant records and cooperate with any investigation.
  • Avoid admitting liability or making unauthorised statements on behalf of the business.

10. Lost property

Property left in a vehicle must be secured and reported promptly. Drivers must not use, retain or dispose of passenger property except in accordance with company instructions and applicable law.

11. Breaches of this policy

Failure to comply with this policy may result in removal from a booking, suspension from providing services, termination of the applicable engagement or referral to the relevant authority, depending on the seriousness of the matter.
